Final call for young artists: just 5 days left to apply for the second Young Art Exhibition and Auction

Following the success of Latvia’s first-ever Young Art Exhibition and Auction, the open call for artists to register in the event’s second edition ends on Tuesday. All selected works will be featured in a public exhibition ahead of a live auction on 5 November 2026, with participation available both in person and online.

Artists up to the age of 40 are invited to submit up to three artworks by 6 October at 23:59 via the application form available at www.jaunamaksla.lv. The open call builds on the success of the first Latvian Young Art Auction, held this spring in Riga. The event brought together works by 29 emerging Latvian artists and resulted in the sale of 35 artworks, attracting bidders both in person and online. The initiative is part of Invego x Art, a long-term program dedicated to bringing contemporary art by emerging artists into new homes and introducing a wider audience to the next generation of creative talent.

According to curator Raivis Alksnis, the first auction clearly proved that young Latvian artists can attract attention not only locally but also internationally. “The response to the first auction exceeded expectations. We saw strong interest from collectors in both Latvia and Estonia, confirming that there is real demand for contemporary works by emerging artists. Our goal is to continue building a platform that helps talented young artists gain visibility, connect with collectors and strengthen the local art ecosystem,” says Raivis Alksnis.

“What I find particularly exciting about young art is that young artists are not yet influenced by established movements or schools of thought, and they have a very interesting sense of the future. As a result, their work feature so many different approaches and, above all, genuinely fresh ideas,” says entrepreneur and art enthusiast Kristjan-Thor Vähi, CEO of Invego. “As creators of homes, we believe that every new home deserves its own character and soul, and art is what gives a space that identity. It’s important that young Latvian art is visible and accessible and the more young artists can showcase their work, the more courage people will find to buy it and thereby support local artists,” adds Vähi.

The Young Art Auction has been successfully held in Estonia for several years. In spring 2026, the initiative expanded to Latvia in partnership with Invego, supporting emerging artists through a shared commitment to architecture, design and placemaking.

Applications are now open at www.jaunamaksla.lv.
