Latvia’s second Young Art Auction takes place today, 5 November, at 18:00 at the Creative factory Veldze in Riga, with bidding available both in person and online. Featuring 51 work by 36 artists, the auction invites experienced collectors and first-time buyers alike to discover emerging Latvian talent and support artists through the purchase of their work. Following a free public exhibition that opened on 28 October, the event now moves from viewing to bidding. All works can also be explored online, allowing prospective buyers to review the selection ahead of this evening’s auction.
“You do not need an established collection to take part. A first purchase can begin with a single work that catches your attention. This evening is an opportunity to turn that interest into support for its author,” says curator Raivis Alksnis.
The auction is supported by Invego x Art, a long-term initiative that introduces emerging Latvian artists to a wider audience and encourages people to bring contemporary art into their homes.
“Buying a young artist’s work is a personal choice with a wider impact. You bring something distinctive into your home and give the artist encouragement to keep developing their ideas,” says Kristjan-Thor Vähi, CEO of real estate developer Invego and an art enthusiast.
The Young Art Auction initiative has been running in Estonia for several years and expanded to Latvia in spring 2026 in partnership with Invego. Previous event featured works by 29 emerging Latvian artists and attracted buyers from Latvia and Estonia. A total of 35 artworks were sold. Ella Mežule’s painting achieved the highest price of €3,000, while many other works sold at more accessible prices.
